It was mildly interesting to me about five years ago, but Chavez displayed such a total lack of professionalism and never showed anything resembling improvement that I don't see it as much of a fight, no matter how far Canelo has slipped. I hope that this will stick a fork in Chavez Jr. and finally signal the end of this Father-Milking Fraud.
Cableaddict
re: Canelo lvarez vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr fight thread (Spoilers) I'm all out of shits to give. The entire country of Mexico should be embarrassed by this circus. Sadly, it will probably be a PPV bonanza.
LondonRingRules
re: Canelo lvarez vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr fight thread (Spoilers) --- How quickly ye forget that Jr KOed Andy Lee and utterly wrecked Martinez for the rest of his career. He was 3 lbs over this weight in his last fight and seems to have made a comeback of sorts. I pick Canelo, but Jr bigger and stronger than Golovkin and will be hard to beat. Yeah, after crooked boxing's setbacks, Canelo pulling the plow to keep GB in business. Be a great action fight with the winner getting golovkin who still has to get by the formidable Jacobs. Need to embrace these good fights with a reminder by Orson Welles: no wine before it's time...enjoy.

steelfistsmith
re: Canelo lvarez vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr fight thread (Spoilers) Great fight for the Meicans. Canelo will stop him late with Chavez toughness that will get him through some tough times but Canelo will eventually break him down to stop him. MechaGriever
re: Canelo lvarez vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr fight thread (Spoilers) ...My response when I heard the news was genuinely, "...really?" Oh. Uh. Okay I guess?" and I still feel the same. Happy to watch Canelo vs Chavez Jr but as a few people have already mentioned, this fight would have meant a little more a few years ago. Frankly, the Fonfara fight pissed me off. Hence the great legend Chavez's son remains a difficult fella for me to celebrate even if he went out there like Sugar Ray Robinson in his prime. He won't though, so my money's on Canelo, who I won't give too much credit. Surely GGG is the only fight most anybody who knows this game wants for him right now. Floyd vs Pacquiao anyone? pittbox
re: Canelo lvarez vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr fight thread (Spoilers) In my opinion Alvarez wins this easily, but it is still a freak fight that doesn't do antything for their improvement. LondonRingRules
re: Canelo lvarez vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr fight thread (Spoilers) --- An easy fight for Canelo would've been the trout/lady Lara rematches of two cream puff stinker/runners. I dare say Canelo will be hitting the weights for the first time for extra mass and strength. Junior has 4 months to drop 3lbs and get back into championship shape because this the Mexican title para la gente. They're projecting 100k in cowboy stadium though this so lucrative that others like Vegas may outbid them. On fight nite, Canelo to be around 185 and jr 195, a modern interpretation of an ol fashioned knockdown, dragged out heavyweight knuckle buster. LondonRingRules
re: Canelo lvarez vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr fight thread (Spoilers) --- Extra $ for Canelo or extra incentive for jr. I'd bet on jr being in the shape of his life. Fact: Jr started a division or two below Canelo. Think about that.

thedarkdragon11
re: Canelo lvarez vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr fight thread (Spoilers) Really? LondonRingRules
re: Canelo lvarez vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr fight thread (Spoilers) --- Here is the precursor last week leading to this fight when Omar Chavez TKOed Ramon Alvarez to go 1-1 in that series. Balco Meme Heredia who trains JMMarquez is Juniors new addition to his camp begging the question? Did he give Omar some of his balco shakes? Note the back acne that is supposed to be a symptom of PED use, yet many young males are plagued by it when their male hormones suddenly flood their system. repsac
re: Canelo lvarez vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr fight thread (Spoilers) I want to root for Canelo, cuz i want to see him fight GGG next. But i don't think he'll fight GGG next. He'll end up fighting someone like Lemieux or Billy Joe. So i'm rooting for Chavez, but picking Canelo. If that makes any sense. Also..
