After a 20-month absence it has been announced that Zab "Super" Judah will return to the ring in September. The former World champion at both super-lightweight and welterweight has teamed up with promoter Greg Cohen.

The popular Brooklyn, New York boxer has had a long and distinguished career having fought some of the premier names in the sport like Floyd Mayweather Jr., Kostya Tszyu, Cory Spinks, Miguel Cotto and Lucas Martin Matthysse.

I always felt he was more effective at light-welterweight, but he's old now and the loss to Amir Khan was more than enough to prove it. Hell of a career, shame he'll basically be remembered for the Mayweather fight and the chicken dance.

The link needs fixing there. I've noticed a few where the link works but the link text says page not found.

Re Judah, didn;t he become irrelevant about a decade ago now? What is it with boxers keep on fighting long long past their sell by date.

It must be hard to let go - the regimented lifestyle, the fame, the atmosphere of walking out into the arena on fight night, the adrenaline rush of putting yourself on the line. Athletes-turned-cokeheads usually say they were looking for something to replace the buzz.

True and all makes sense. And lets face it boxers, in most cases are not the sharpest knives in thedraw, many squander aware all their earnings. Sad but true.

Greg Cohen picked him up. He couldn't even catch a ride on the Haymon tour bus or sign with GBP.

Queue an uninspired loss for him, much like the Malignaggi fight, and retirement after picking up a TKO over some Midwesterner and a 78-74 over a Mexican cab driver. Not only are his speed and reflexes diminished, but if his last fight was of any indication, he doesn't even want to be fighting in the first place.

At this point he's just a name/scalp for a young fighter to claim. If he wins a fight like that, and i do mean 'if', actually i think he would need to win 2 fights against a promising prospect. Then maybe, he could be fed to a contender who would demolish him. Afterwards he could fight a no-hope brawler from Kentucky, and call it a career.
